Look Ma - No Hands!

Song Lyric of the Week Answer #5

And in our world of plenty
we can spread a smile of joy
Throw your arms around the world
at Christmas time.

The lyric this in this week’s Song Lyric of the Week was of course from Bob Geldof’s fund-raising project, Do They Know It’s Christmas? [iTunes] sung by a whole host of musicians coming together under the name Band Aid. The single was released on December 15th 1984, with all proceeds (including the British government’s tax, after a bit of wrangling) going to relief efforts for the people of Etheopia, who were suffering a terrible famine.

If you’ve forgotten the song and the story surrounding it – or if you’re too young to have forgotten – take a few minutes to read the stories of the song and the famine.

Band Aid was ‘rebuilt’ in 2000, to raise money for and awareness of the situation in Darfur, Sudan.

This week’s winners are both guys we’ve heard from already in the past few weeks – both Geren and Drew had the right answer. Congrats guys, and thanks for playing.
