Alpharetta Elementary School’s Spring Carnival is tomorrow.
I spent some time last night reading through Dave’s Two Days at Davos and How to Make Money on the Internet. Good stuff there, well worth taking a look at. I’m sure to be reading more of Dave.
I wonder what my wife would say to “hey, let’s move to California.” (pause) I’m Just Kidding!
I gotta ask Dave what those “10 Websites that Will Change the World” turned out to be. Are they the same ones you thought they’d be?
Microsoft has released updates to WSH (5.1 and the beta of 5.5). Definately worth checking out, if you’re interested in scripting on your users’ Windows systems. Real good for login scripts.
Better than instaling ActveState’s ActivePerl on all their boxes? You be the judge.
Also new from Microsoft, Internet Explorer for the Pocket PC was previewed at the CeBIT trade show in Germany.
Sobe bottlecap saying of the day – “Light My Lizard”
Got any Windows users who are interested – but perhaps nervous – about trying this Linux thing they’ve been hearing about? From Dave’s http://linux.davecentral.com/bol_19991026.html “…WinLinux 2000 is merely a matter of double-clicking an icon on the Windows desktop. This is a full-featured Linux distribution, including all of the Linux standards and wingdings veteran users take for granted, including a copy of the K Desktop Environment, a graphical user interface that new users will probably feel the most comfortable using.” WinLinux can be found at http://www.winlinux.net/
Huh? What’s this? Am I really mentioning Windows and Linux together peacefully on the same page? /.ers are likely having heart attacks all across the land. Maybe I’ll have to write an article on my OS Coexistance thoughts.
But not right now.
Chicken Run is coming in June!
“I’m sure to be reading more of Dave .”
Ok, so then there was lunchtime… From http://davenet.userland.com/2000/02/23/askNotWhatTheInternetCanDoForYou his February 23rd article, more good stuff…
What is the Internet?
The Internet is a bunch of wires, routers, servers, protocols, engineers, software, writers, designers, artists and users. But the Internet is also a philosophy. A spirit of open-ness, a world-wide honor system. (Now that non-techies know about Denial-of-Service attacks, isn’t it amazing that the Internet runs at all?)
The Internet as a philosophy? A religion? A way of life?
Nothin’ But Net!
