May 10, 2008: Workers are putting the finishing touches on the brand-new Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in Alpharetta Georgia as performers are rehearsing for the opening night concert.
I didn’t think about this early enough, as I was busy getting pictures of the kids; looking back I would have liked to have gotten the images that were needed for this panorama earlier in the day while the full rehearsal was in progress. On stage in this image are members of the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra, also rehearsing during this day and performing together in the opening-night concert were the Milton and Alpharetta High School bands along with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus.
Am I to understand that you people will not allow beer or wine to be brought to the venue, and you don’t sell any either? If this be true, shame on you. I now wish I hadn’t bought tickets, and will never again. You inconsiderate, inbread, bible thumpin fool’s.
First of all, “I” am not in any way responsible for setting policy at the amphitheatre, I was (for this post) merely a chaperon for my son’s band while they rehearsed and performed. I am also a worker at one of the concession stands, and…
Secondly I can verify that there definitely is plenty of beer and wine (and spirits too, I think, though I’m not sure of this) sold. The stand where I was working last night during the Eagles concert sold over 700 cups of beer; I was pulling drafts of Bud Light* and Michelob Ultra* all night. The stand next to ours was selling bottles of many other types of beer as well as wine.
* yes, I know that beer aficionados will consider neither of these beverages to be “beer,” but for sake of this comment they’ll just have to do.
