Have a Refreshing Weekend

It’s time to take a full three day weekend. I know my buddy Allen is, his email’s already responding that he won’t be back until Tuesday and I know he means it - and he’s out of cell range, high in the mountains for the weekend. I don’t have plans quite so grand, but I’m […]

Wanna Zoom Again

Boy do I ever want to buy a motorcycle. I used to ride, then sold my bike when my sons got to the age where there T-Ball games, Soccer games, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts etc. were more important. Those were great times, and I don’t begrudge one bit the time that I spent in […]

They Just Don’t Want To Know

Twice within the last 10 days or so I’ve gotten phone calls from survey firms. The first wanted to know about my radio listening habits. The second was asking about how I get news on the Television. (Funny enough, I had to pause a podcast to answer this second call.)
Neither was very interested in learning […]

Geo-tagging Photos, revisited

Question: When you tag a photo with location information, do you use the location where you were standing when you took the photo, or the location of the object or people in the photo?

Are You a Cast Member?

Making the rounds this week on various WDW-related blogs and forums, You know you’re a Disney cast member when…
There are a couple that I know apply, and bug the heck out of my sons:

You have the overwhelming urge to offer to take people’s pictures
When you go on vacation, you say hello to Housekeepers in the […]

Monday Morning Excitement

My wife and I awoke with a start at about 3 this morning, and my son immediately came running down the hall asking if we’d heard a noise. We most certainly had, though I wasn’t sure if it was just part of a dream until he asked. This was no dream. We checked around and […]

Online Organizational Tools

I’ve moved most of my personal “PIM stuff” online this weekend. I had been a bit frustrated lately, organizationally and technologically. I had been “living” on my PowerBook, using OS X’s mail client, address book and calendaring program. They’re great, especially as integrated with each other as they are, but they do all live in one […]

Leaves

I’m not saying that it’s been hot and dry for the past month or anything, just that my backyard looks more like late October than mid-August.

Drive Carefully

Not that you shouldn’t all the time anyway, but it’s time to keep an extra eye out for the kids as you head off to work in the morning and return in the afternoons. School’s beginning, at least here in Georgia - some counties started last week, Fulton county’s kids went back to class yesterday […]

Transformers

Nerdy guy, pretty girl, obnoxious parents, fast cars, hidden government organizations, chase scenes, giant robots, explosions… good times. Fun movie.

Just make sure you see it in a theater where the projector’s in focus and the sound system doesn’t keep skipping. Truly, there’s less and less compelling me to spend money on such a mediocre experience.

Downshift Your Driving

C3:
Look at your calendar for this week and find one day when you can take public transportation, bike, walk, or just stay home. Have fun with it – plan activities to do with your family at home or within walking distance of it. Or have a get-together with your neighbors.

Learn more, and take the pledge.

It’s been a Harry Potter week

On a lighter note, I read book 5 - Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - last weekend and saw the movie this past week. The book was, of course, much better than the movie. I understand that parts of the book needed to be cut to fit a script into a reasonable […]

War

My wife and I, along with our sons and their girlfriends, went to see The Bourne Ultimatum tonight. It was a good flick, a fun story, a satisfying ending to the trilogy. The camerawork and editing were way too jumpy, though perhaps that was magnified by the fact that the only seats open for us […]

A Photographer

I walk around Walt Disney World and take pictures. I hang out with the kids playing lacrosse or marching in the band and take pictures. I find things I think are interesting along the side of the road or in my backyard and take pictures of them.
But Michael Kamber…
I got up and ran to […]

Another Walt Disney World Panorama

Also from last week’s lunchtime visit, here’s an almost 180-degree view of Village Lake.

That’s a really tiny view, you really need to click through then hit the “all sizes” button. Similar to the last posting, I used hugin to assemble this pano, this time from 7 images. The pictures were taken with a little Point&Shoot […]
