Song Lyric of the Week

Boy, is it Thursday already? It sure is, and that means it’s time for the Song Lyric of the Week. Same as usual, the rules are simple: I post a lyric, you guess (without using Google or other search tools) what song it’s from. Are you ready?
Drop a dime in the box play the song […]

Waiting For Lunch

As I came home this afternoon, I was being watched. Sitting on a stone wall under our deck was this fine bird, giving me the eye.He didn’t move at all as I drove in, so I went upstairs and got my camera and was pleasantly surprised that he was still there when I returned. I […]

Gears of War - Working Together

I know, I know - I decided on Splinter Cell:Double Agent over Gears of War and other games. But this past week I rented and as my XBox 360’s Blog points out I’ve been playing Gears of War with my sons and online friends, and I’m impressed. Graphics, story, music and sounds, and especially the […]

New CSI for an Old Crime

I read a fascinating book this weekend, Ian Wilson’s Murder At Golgotha. Subtitled “Revisiting the Most Famous Crime Scene in History,” it’s an interesting look at Jesus’ crucifixion and other events during Holy Week from a forensic and analytic perspective.
While not proving the Bible to be 100% factually correct (neither completely possible nor necessary at […]

Song Lyric of the Week Answer

And can you, can you imagine fifty people a day,I said
fifty people a day walking in singin a bar of Alice’s Restaurant and
walking out. And friends they may thinks it’s a movement.

That’s right, yesterday’s Song Lyric of the Week was from none other than Arlo Guthrie’s lengthy anti-war song Alice’s Restaurant Massacree. [Wikipedia entry]
Why […]

Song Lyric of the Week

Well, I started thinking about today’s Song Lyric of the Week posting and quickly realized that there was only one song that would do on Thanksgiving. This one should be super-obvious for those of you who’ve heard it, and for those who haven’t… you need to find a copy, sit down and listen for a […]

One “Last” GTD Post

I’ve been beating the GTD drum recently, and several months ago moved my email, address book and other daily tools to my PowerBook so here’s one last (for the time being anyway) for others who are interested in both who might not be ready to dive into KGTD: an old HawkWings posting, on Getting Things […]

Song Lyric of the Week Answer

Wow, I didn’t think last week’s Song Lyric of the Week was that obscure, but apparently not many people have listened carefully to U2’s latest CD, How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb, or the lyrics of Crumbs From Your Table. Drew knew it was U2 but couldn’t place the song, but his email was […]

Me - Off The Net?

I mentioned I’d been off the net today; the funny thing is that I was productively working on a website. E, at TPI, has been good to me in these few months, contracting me to build their new site and finding other gigs to work on for her. This week they’ve got a contract for […]

Song Lyric of the Week

I know, it’s late - I’ve been off the net most of the day - but here’s this week’s Song Lyric of the Week. It’s another one that should be fairly easy for regular readers here, let’s see how you do. As before, the rules are simple: I post a lyric, you guess what song […]

Dig that Verb, Mann.

When you’re trying to dig yourself out, it’s important to know which shovel to use. When you’re trying to Get Things Done, it’s important to know what your verbs mean. If you don’t know your verbs from a hole in the ground, see Merlin’s post. Check it out.

Song Lyric of the Week Answer

We had a couple of answers to yesterday’s Song Lyric of the Week question. I know that the first one used Google (he admitted so on the phone), so no points to Mike. Sorry ’bout that. Tommy knew the artist from this weblog, wasn’t sure of the song - but I appreciate him dropping me […]

Panic! No, Don’t Panic.

Ok, here’s a tip for teens. Let’s say you’re at a concert, having fun with your friends, and Panic! At The Disco does something really awesome. They bring in a bunch of strings and does a great cover of Eleanor Rigby. It’s just so cool you’ve got to tell your music-loving father about it.
Good […]

Just about every Thursday, Rob gives us a cinematic memory challenge with his Movie Line of the Week contest. Beginning today, I’m also going to tweek those memory cells with a new weekly challenge: Song Lyric of the Week. The rules are simple: I post a lyric, you guess what song it’s from.

Gaming Decision Made

I made my decision. Between Splinter Cell:Double Agent, Rainbow 6 Vegas, and Gears of War I was torn, but then I picked up Splinter Cell: Double Agent for my son and had a few days to play it before he came home from college that weekend. When he got home I told him he had […]

Golden OneNote

Congratulations to Chris and his team — purple hair & all — as OneNote goes “Gold” (along with the rest of Office 2007).

Getting out of the hole.

GTD refers to Getting Things Done, David Allen’s Macintosh-based system for making sure that no task, no decision, no obligation gets missed. It doesn’t matter if you’re a Mac user, a Windows user, or a Linux user - or indeed someone who uses no computer at all (though I’m not sure how you’d be reading […]

You have fallen into a hole.

Ethan J. A. Schoonover, creator of the Kinkless GTD system, has, I think, one of the best customized 404 messages I’ve seen in a long time.
Kudos.

GC&SU Lacrosse

Today was beautiful, a bright blue sky and crisp cool air. A perfect day for some fall-ball lacrosse.

Though the final scores weren’t to our liking, the games were great fun to watch.
